Before you begin any project (funded/non-funded) there should always be a plan.  Before beginning any game, there should be some kind of strategy on how to beat the other team.  Before reaching the ideas in writing a successful, informational, and detailed paper with quotations (based on former text) there should always be a thesis, a main idea, etc.
